Benjamin Franklin High School Tshirt
Details
Roughly dated between 1957-1963
It’s easy to see this shirt, and acknowledge how cool the wear and color is, but it’s another thing to grasp the significance of the dating of this shirt.
In 1954 Brown vs. Education ruled in favor of desegregation in the classroom, and it wasn’t til a couple years after that the schools were actually integrated. This shirt existed during time where Black children were fighting for the right to a proper education and fair treatment.
It’s a heavy topic, but a surreal one to contemplate.

Vintage clothing isn’t just stylistically pleasing, it’s a piece of history…a time capsule, if you will.
